Coverage for Jewelry

At this time of year gifts of jewelry are common.  If you have been on the receiving end of a new jewelry item be sure to contact your agent to discuss how this item is covered.

Most Homeowners Insurance policies will limit the coverage of jewelry in two ways:  1. Theft of jewelry has a per item $ limit and a per incident $ limit;  2. Coverage for mysterious disappearance, breakage and accidental loss is not covered.

Most Homeowner insurance policies can be amended to fill these gaps so that you are fully covered for your higher value jewelry items.

Similar limitations are also present in Homeowner policies for Firearms, Silverware and other unique items of personal property, so ask your agent about these also.
